Before you lie down

What to tell your therapist

Nobody expects you to know massage words. A few plain sentences are enough, in Spanish or English, and you can change them at any point.

Say them at the start, or whenever something changes. We would rather hear it than guess.

Pressure

Pressure, in your words

Pick the word closest to what you want. It is never too much to ask for less, or for more.

  • Ligera

    Light

A hand resting with a little weight. Slow, smooth, no digging.

  • Media

    Medium

You feel the muscle being worked, and you can talk easily.

  • Firme

    Firm

Steady and deliberate. You breathe out as we sink in.

  • Profunda

    Deep

Slow and strong. If you hold your breath, tell us and we ease off.

Places to leave alone

You can say no to any area

Tell your therapist before you start, or at any time. You never owe a reason.

  • A spot that feels tender today

We work around it, or lighter, whichever you prefer.

  • Places you prefer untouched

Feet, head, face or hands: skipped, no explanation needed.

  • Places where you are ticklish

We use a flatter, firmer touch there.

  • Anything you are unsure about

Say "stop" or "wait" and we stop. Then we start again, or end the session.

In two languages

Words you can use

Say them in whichever language comes first. Both therapists understand both.

  • "A little firmer, please." · "Un poco más firme, por favor."

  • "Lighter here." · "Más suave aquí."

  • "Stay on this spot." · "Quédese en este punto."

  • "Please skip my feet." · "Por favor, no me toque los pies."

  • "I need a minute." · "Necesito un momento."

  • "Stop." · "Pare."
